Bootstrap Pagination

Bootstrap Pagination

Bootstrap Pagination is used to adding consecutive numbers to the sequential order of multiple pages. You can create a pagination by adding the class .pagination in <ul> element. After create <ul> element you need to create <li> element with a class .page-item and for each anchor tag <a>element use class .page-link. For multiple pages you can easily create pagination by using predefined classes in bootstrap.

Let's take an example of pagination:

  <!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
  <title>Bootstrap Pagination</title>
  <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
  <link rel="stylesheet" href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.4.1/css/bootstrap.min.css">
  <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.4.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
  <script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/popper.js/1.16.0/umd/popper.min.js"></script>
  <script src="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.4.1/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<div class="container">
  <ul class="pagination">
    <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">Previous</a></li>
    <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">1</a></li>
    <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">2</a></li>
    <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">3</a></li>
    <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">Next</a></li>
  </ul>
</div>
</body>
</html>
Output:

Pagination Sizing

Sometimes you want to increase or decrease the size of pagination. For this you have to add class .pagination together with the class .pagination-*(*-lg, sm) to the <ul> element.

Let's take an example of pagination size:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
  <title>Bootstrap Pagination</title>
  <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
  <link rel="stylesheet" href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.4.1/css/bootstrap.min.css">
  <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.4.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
  <script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/popper.js/1.16.0/umd/popper.min.js"></script>
  <script src="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.4.1/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<div class="container">
 <ul class="pagination pagination-lg">
  <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">Previous</a></li>
  <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">1</a></li>
  <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">2</a></li>
  <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">3</a></li>
  <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">Next</a></li>
</ul>
<ul class="pagination pagination-sm">
  <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">Previous</a></li>
  <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">1</a></li>
  <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">2</a></li>
  <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">3</a></li>
  <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">Next</a></li>
</ul>
</div>
</body>
</html>

Pagination Alignment

Bootstrap provides predefined classes to change the alignment (left, right, center) of pagination. For the alignment of pagination add the class .pagination together with the class . justify-content-*(*- center, left, right) to the <ul> element.

Let's take an example of pagination alignment:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
  <title>Bootstrap Pagination</title>
  <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
  <link rel="stylesheet" href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.4.1/css/bootstrap.min.css">
  <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.4.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
  <script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/popper.js/1.16.0/umd/popper.min.js"></script>
  <script src="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.4.1/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<div class="container">
 <ul class="pagination justify-content-right">
    <li class="page-item">
      <a class="page-link" href="#">Previous</a>
    </li>
    <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">1</a></li>
    <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">2</a></li>
    <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">3</a></li>
    <li class="page-item">
      <a class="page-link" href="#">Next</a>
    </li>
  </ul>
   <ul class="pagination justify-content-center">
    <li class="page-item ">
      <a class="page-link" href="#">Previous</a>
    </li>
    <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">1</a></li>
    <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">2</a></li>
    <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">3</a></li>
    <li class="page-item">
      <a class="page-link" href="#">Next</a>
    </li>
  </ul>
   <ul class="pagination justify-content-end">
    <li class="page-item ">
      <a class="page-link" href="#" >Previous</a>
    </li>
    <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">1</a></li>
    <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">2</a></li>
    <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">3</a></li>
    <li class="page-item">
      <a class="page-link" href="#">Next</a>
    </li>
  </ul>
  </div>
</body>
</html>

Active and disable state

To highlight the current or active page you can use the class. Active in <li> element and .disabled class for un-clickable link.

Let's take an example of active and disabled:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
  <title>Bootstrap Pagination</title>
  <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
  <link rel="stylesheet" href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.4.1/css/bootstrap.min.css">
  <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.4.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
  <script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/popper.js/1.16.0/umd/popper.min.js"></script>
  <script src="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.4.1/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<div class="container">
<ul class="pagination">
  <li class="page-item disabled"><a class="page-link" href="#">Previous</a></li>
  <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">1</a></li>
  <li class="page-item active"><a class="page-link" href="#">2</a></li>
  <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">3</a></li>
  <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="#">Next</a></li>
</ul>
  </div>
</body>
</html>
Output:

Bootstrap Breadcrumb

Bootstrap breadcrumb is the form of pagination. Breadcrumb is used to indicate the current page location within a navigational hierarchy. To create breadcrumb add class .breadcrumb in <ul> element and .breadcrumb-item class to the <li> element.

Let's take an example of breadcrumb:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
  <title>Bootstrap Pagination</title>
  <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
  <link rel="stylesheet" href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.4.1/css/bootstrap.min.css">
  <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.4.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
  <script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/popper.js/1.16.0/umd/popper.min.js"></script>
  <script src="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.4.1/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<div class="container">
<ul class="breadcrumb">
  <li class="breadcrumb-item"><a href="#">Home</a></li>
  <li class="breadcrumb-item"><a href="#">About</a></li>
  <li class="breadcrumb-item"><a href="#">Services</a></li>
  <li class="breadcrumb-item active">contact</li>
</ul>
  </div>
</body>
</html>
Output:
